The Dogs

Luge and Millie

We have two Bernese Mountain Dogs, Luge and Millie.  Luge is two years old and Millie is a year old. They are the most loving and placid dogs I have ever owned and they do not have a nasty bone in their body. They love to mix with all animals and people and are especially good with children.

The Cats

Paws, Tabby and Benny.  Paws was my first cat who I got when he was 8 weeks old. Then, as Paws was looking a bit lonely, I went to Colchester Cat Rescue and came back with Tabby. She was very shy and nervous and it has taken us 4 years to be able to pick her up for a cuddle. It was worth the wait. My friend fosters for the Colchester Cat Rescue and my husband went over to fix her computer one day only to see 2 adorable white kittens. Needless to say, that’s how Benny became part of the family!

The Horses

Leo    Murphy

Leo and Murphy.  Leo is a three year old Fell Pony. I have had him since he was 11 months old. Prior to that, he ran on 40 acres of Common Land with a large herd of Fells. He has come on really well and I am hoping to get a saddle on him at the end of this year! Murphy is a 13 year old Welsh Cross Pony with a very cheeky character! We originally got him as a companion for Leo and to bring on into the carriage driving world. He has now been driving for a year and we compete in Indoor Driving Trials in the winter and outdoor in the summer. We also enjoy a lot of pleasure drives with him.

The Rabbits

Nala, Fluffy, Cappuccino, Latte, Espresso, Mocha and De (Decaffeinated!)

Nala is a Lionhead Rabbit.  She lives on her own as she has never really got on with any other rabbit since her brother, Simba, died.  Fluffy is Cappuccino and Latte’s mum but has also taken on Espresso and Mocha as her own.  They are a recent addition to the family, bred by Ange at Millies Stud (who I can highly recommend, please see links page). They are all really friendly as they are handled by Ange from birth.   Once they are slightly older, they are going to visit people in residential homes for animal petting.

The Gerbils

Sugar and Shandy.

Sugar and Shandy were given to me by friends.  They live in their Gerbilarium in my study.  They are very friendly and love to watch everything that is going on.

The Ducks

Jacob Quackers, Abby, Cassie and Fern

Jacob, Cassie and Fern are Indian Runners and Abby is an Abocot Ranger.  I have had them all since they were a day old.  They spent the first 2 years living in my garden but have recently moved to my yard and now live with my horses.

The Chickens

Another recent addition to the family!  They are rescue battery hens.  I watched Jamie’s Fowl Dinners one night and the next day I signed up to the rescue.  I waited two and a half months for my girls but it was worth the wait.  They are ever so friendly and produce the nicest eggs.
